Our Mission

Three women wearing green reflective vests standing outdoors in front of a garden with purple flowers and a house in the background.

Ballyboughal Tidy Towns is a volunteer-driven community group dedicated to enhancing, protecting, and celebrating the natural and built environment of our village.

Our goal is to foster pride in our community by creating a cleaner, greener, more sustainable Ballyboughal for all — through environmental stewardship, inclusive community projects, and meaningful engagement across all age groups.

Led by Tidy Towns in Partnership with Fingal County Council, the Ballyboughal Biodiversity Action Plan is a community-led roadmap of 20 projects to create wildlife habitats, protect key species, raise awareness, and monitor nature while promoting sustainable living.

For over 30 years, we've worked to keep Ballyboughal beautiful and resilient — through thoughtful planning, active volunteerism, and strong partnerships with local clubs, schools, businesses, and residents.

What We Do

  • Group of volunteers wearing green vests planting flowers in a garden beside a building with a red roof and a stone wall, while a photographer captures the activity.

    Community Engagement & Planning

We host weekly planning meetings, Saturday morning work sessions, and seasonal cleanups. From summer parties to biodiversity walks, we create opportunities for everyone to get involved.

  • Two tree stumps enclosed by wire cages, each labeled 'Leaf Mould Cage,' with a yellow sign providing instructions for leaf composting, surrounded by green bushes and ivy.

    Sustainability & Climate Action

From reusable bottle campaigns to composting, rainwater harvesting, and recycling drives, we’re committed to doing more with less — and inspiring others to do the same.

  • Yellow insect hotel with small compartments, surrounded by green plants and pink flowers, with an informational sign titled 'Bug Hotel' nearby.

    Biodiversity & Conservation

Our initiatives include the Cois Sruthain Nature Reserve, native tree planting, pollinator-friendly habitats, and support for wildlife such as birds, bees, and barn owls.

  • Seven children in high visibility vests planting a small tree in a garden with TV above ground planting, tools, and gardening supplies nearby.

    Youth & School Involvement

We partner with our local school, Montessori, and clubs on projects like wildflower sowing, upcycling competitions, litter-picking, and environmental education.
