Ballyboughal’s annual Summer Heritage Festival is a vibrant celebration of local identity, bringing the entire community together on the village green every June 21st. With a delightful blend of heritage and fun, the event features:
Heritage exhibits showcasing Ballyboughal’s rich past—local GAA memorabilia, displays on the medieval church and monastic traditions, and tales linked to the Bachal Isu legacy foira1916.

The Parade
Each year, the Ballyboughal Heritage Festival kicks off in style with a vibrant opening parade down Main Street Bridge — a joyful procession that weaves through the heart of the village before arriving at St Patrick’s Hall, where a heritage exhibition. This spirited parade brings together community groups, local musicians, colourful banners, and enthusiastic performers—setting the tone for the afternoon’s celebrations.

Music & Dancing
Music and dancing are at the heart of the Ballyboughal Heritage Festival, bringing the village to life with energy, joy, and community spirit. From the uplifting harmonies of the Ballyboughal Community Choir to the foot-tapping rhythms of traditional Irish musicians, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Festivalgoers can join in on lively céilí dances or simply soak up the atmosphere. DJ Dave keeps the party going with a vibrant mix of crowd favourites, creating an open-air dance floor where all ages come together to celebrate.
